Lingua Ace · For doctors preparing for the Fachsprachprüfung

Train for the three parts of the Fachsprachprüfung.

Lingua Ace trains what the exam asks for: the conversation with a patient, the doctor's report and the handover to a colleague. For each of the three parts the app shows how far along you are, before you register for the exam.

Lingua Ace is a learning app: no certificate, no pass guarantee.

What Lingua Ace does about it

  • Measured skill by skill. Reading, listening, writing, speaking, vocabulary and grammar are each estimated on the CEFR scale, with steps within a level. The estimates come from your answers while practising.
  • Medical language. Taking a history, informed consent, presenting a case, the discharge letter: vocabulary and situations from hospital work, with the technical term and the word a patient understands.
  • Readiness per exam part. In exam mode the app shows for each of the three parts how far along you are.
  • Conversation practice on the phone. You practise conversations with an AI partner, out loud and on your phone. Short sessions fit between two shifts.

How the Fachsprachprüfung is built

You take the Fachsprachprüfung with the licensing authority or the medical chamber it appoints. It tests medical German at level C1 in three situations from a doctor's day. Medical knowledge itself is not tested in the Fachsprachprüfung. Whoever fails repeats the whole exam.

Three parts of 20 minutes each: Doctor–patient conversation 20 minutes, Documentation (doctor's report) 20 minutes, Doctor–doctor conversation 20 minutes.

Each chamber sets its own fee, for example €595 in Lower Saxony and €430 at the Ärztekammer Nordrhein.

Lingua Ace is independent of the medical chambers and licensing authorities and is not an official preparation course.

How to start

  1. 1. Register. Create an account with your email address and a password. Nothing has to be installed from an app store.
  2. 2. Choose your goal. Choose the goal "Medical licence in Germany". The app then plans your practice for the Fachsprachprüfung.
  3. 3. Placement. A placement test shows where you start in each skill.
  4. 4. Practise daily. The app plans each day what comes next and shows how far along you are in each exam part.

For hospitals: how a pilot works

  1. 1. Conversation. We talk about who will learn, which level is the goal and by when.
  2. 2. Setup. You create the team and invite your doctors by email. Each person starts with a placement test.
  3. 3. 8 weeks of use. Your doctors practise alongside their shifts, on the phone or on a computer.
  4. 4. Review. We go through the anonymous team report together: activity and levels across the team, no individual results.

Prices

On your own you learn with the free plan or with Pro. Hospitals get a team plan.

For doctors: Pro: €17.99 per month or €129.99 a year — €10.83 a month

For hospitals: Business Team: from €99.00 per month plus VAT, 5 seats included. Each further seat: €19.00 per month plus VAT.

Who sees my results?

Only you. If you learn in a team set up by your hospital, the hospital sees a team report with totals across the whole team, and only once the team has 5 members. Individual results, answers and recordings are seen only by the learner.

What Lingua Ace is not

  • No certificate and no pass guarantee. You take the exam with the medical chamber or the authority responsible for you.
  • Independent of the medical chambers and licensing authorities.
  • No replacement for medical training or supervision on the ward.

This record states what this learning app has measured from the learner's own answers. It follows the CEFR scale, but it is an estimate produced by software: it is not a certificate, it is not an examination, and it is not equivalent to telc, Goethe, Cambridge, IELTS or DELE.
